Sample Scripts – Russia

Sample Script – Special Prosecutor

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a citizen in [city, zip code]. [IF CALLING DEPT of JUSTICE:] I’m calling to ask Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein to appoint an independent special prosecutor to investigate Russia’s involvement with the Trump campaign and the 2016 election. His stated reasons for the firing of Comey make him look like a partisan instrument of the Trump administration and he has lost his credibility to investigate Russia. Thank you for your time and attention.

IF CALLING HOUSE/SENATE] I’m outraged at the firing of James Comey and I’m calling to urge [REP/SEN NAME] to push for the appointment of an independent special prosecutor to investigate Russia’s involvement with the Trump team. Dir. Comey’s firing shows the lengths President Trump will go to obstruct an investigation into the truth. This should not be a partisan issue. Please ask [REP/SEN] to consider not just the previous election, but what this will say for future elections if we don’t take foreign interference seriously now. Thank you for your time and attention.

U.S. Justice Dept.: +1 202-353-1555

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from (city, zip code). I’m calling to ask that Rep. [Simpson/Labrador] support the bipartisan bill H.R. 356, Protecting Our Democracy Act, which would establish an independent commission of 12 non-governmental appointees to fully investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election,  and if necessary, sign a discharge petition to bring the bill to an immediate vote on the House floor. An independent commission is needed as soon as possible to remove the political games that have been hindering the investigation into Russia’s interference in our election. Thank you for your time.

Sample Script: 9-11 Style Commission:

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent of Representative/Senator [____] calling from [City, Zip Code]. I’m calling to request that a bi-partisan, 9/11-style independent commission be established to investigate the Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. In light of Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ misleading answers about his personal contact with Russian officials, and the fact that leaders of Congressional intelligence committees are discussing the investigation with the White House, it is imperative that we remove partisan politics from the equation to preserve the integrity of this investigation. Thank you for your time.
